Well after months of preparation, another TechEd has quickly come and gone. It was a great show overall! While Microsoft didn't have any big announcements this year there seemed to be significant interest in Microsoft virtualization, System Center and Sharepoint. At the EMC booth we had a lot of customers interested in System Center management, High Availability including stretched clusters, backup and deduplication and RSA integration with Forefront.
Thanks to everyone who came to our session, Accelerating your Journey to Microsoft Virtualization. During the presentation I asked the crowd of about 70 people how many had implemented some sort of virtualization and every hand when up in the air. When I asked how many were fully virtualized, only one hand remained. Clearly there is still a lot of opportunity to continue to virtualize and realize the benefits of a fully virtualized Datacenter. If you didn't make, I'll be posting a recap of the presentation soon.
EMC made a big splash at TechEd as I blogged about for 10 days leading up to the show! We had big crowds listening to our presentations, lining up to get t-shirts, stopping by the recharge lounge to guess how many teddy bears were in the EMC Mini and participating in our EMC tweet contest! On Wednesday, several attendees who were spotted wearing their EMC t-shirts were awarded cash prizes throughout the day and then one lucky winner won $500 at the end of the day in the drawing! We also gave out 22 Iomega eGo hard drives throughout the week and 4 Iomega StorCenter px4-300d 4TB Network Storage to 4 lucky Grand Prize winners!
We also had 20+ EMC specialists covering all sorts of products talking to customers all day long showing countless demos we had prepared and even showing off our VNX, VNXe and VMAX that were stationed in the booth. We gave away reusable water bottles to all the attendees in their welcome bags and we even had EMC billboard trucks driving around the streets of Atlanta – everywhere you turned EMC seemed to be there. All the credit goes to our marketing and events team; they did an amazing job!
In closing, here are a few pictures from the show:
There were so many people there to see our presentations that the crowd was 2 to 3 rows deep at times! Plus I think it is funny that Butch was doing the Captain Morgan's stance at the time.
No mistaking our theme at the show!
You couldn't miss us as you walked into the Exbo hall!
